Dancers’ Dreams

Hi,

it’s been a minute. Honestly, I am not sure whether this style of a blog suits me, but let’s give it another try. (After all, it’s a prepaid thing.)

Some updates

I am still figuring out how to write publicly but for myself. It is not the same.

Story time: my violin teacher once said, everyone can say they play the violin at home, but then why are you here if you cannot play the piece here, if you don’t want to play then don’t play. (She worded it better than me.)

The thing is, I find it impossible to write academically about my research on this platform. You know, I open this blog, to write an update on my research, and instead I write down secondary thoughts. I guess this is a primary source of the creative process. At any time I have so many thoughts, but this crap you are reading here is the first thing that came to my typing fingers. It would be so much easier if you could simply see what is on my mind, because that’s different from what is on this page right now.

I guess we are all better off writing if I try write in my word document then (draft 3). Ciao, maybe you can read that one. Feel free to express your interest xx

it’s me, Sumi. Hi.

writing in one place consistently doesn’t come natural to me; honestly i’m more of a “Zettelwirtschaft” kinda person, but aware of the fact that i will need to submit a Master of Fine Arts dissertation next year, i want to make an effort of writing something that i can come back to, documenting my research.

sometimes it can seem like it’s not about my research, maybe i will write about how to drink a perfect coffee, a gallery visit, money epiphanies, dance performances i am currently involved in that may not be directly related to my thesis, past projects, emotions, friends, places, restaurants, music, classes, family, travelling, films, diy misadventures, the Italian language, Chinese culture, dreams, other work, eat, drink, men, women, anything but my degree project.

though I love breakfast at Tiffany’s, this blog is not Tiffany’s; if you’re looking for polished jewellery, you might find yourself at the wrong address, but i sure like some sparkles.

this blog is Las Médulas, can be harvested like during the Roman Empire and declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

upstairs outside studio 10 or so at the Laban Building at Trinity Laban i saw this today:

it’s a quote by Alvin Ailey: “The creative process is not controlled by a switch you can simply turn on or off; it’s with you all the time.”

now it’s already 15:28h.

i will write more by next week Tuesday 28th November 2023.

thank you for stopping by.

see you later
